Chris has been researching his family history with the help of his cousin's wife, Linda since about 2005. He uses the Ancestry web site to keep most of the data on. It is easier to split up the overall tree into manageble chunks this way.
He started off using Genes Reunited, but although this has proved useful, it has a lot of limitations. The tree (note singular) can rapidly become unweildy.
Ancestry has a significant advantage in that it has probably the largest quantity of family history data online, and the prices are reasonable. A recent innovation by Ancestry has been to provide "hints" - their database trawls through their entire database to find sensible links to individual records that could be the individual concerned.
Chris has also set up a blog which deals specifically with Irish Genealogy.
